"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If only one remembers to turn on the light." -Dumbledor

My mind is blank, I stand in shock.
The words stand out and shout and mock.
For the moment I question my sight,
after that I see little light.

My friend, my family, my life,
Seems non-existent in this strife.
I count to ten, and then some,
I forget it's unto Christ I must come.

The darkness seems to crowd my heart,
the taste in my mouth is very tart.
I feel my knees buckle,
My mind's still in a muddle.

With confusion and tears,
I kneel and confess to God my fears.
I pray with fervent desire to know,
Whithersoever I should go.

After a time, I cannot tell how long,
I hear out the window the sound of a bird's song.
The world continues on, time did not stop.
'Tis almost the season to collect the crop.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes again,
To petition my best, my Heavenly Friend.
I pray for the sun to pierce the cloud,
I see, inside, the glimmer that is allowed.

With hunger for the light so clear,
I pray stronger for my Lord to hear.
My spirit rejoices in the strength,
That the darkness is penetrated at length.

My sadness remains, to remind me of joy past,
But I have found my peace in the Lord at last.
I look to Him in all my need,
I will let Him, as should be, lead.

I do not understand why this must be so,
But I know that I will if I but follow.
My light from the dark so profound,
Taught me to not lose faith in this round.

I have a work to do, that much is clear,
I may be finished or not by the end of the year.
I don't know everything, that much is true,
But I know is time I will come home to You.

Remember me in the times of sorrow,
Help me find the joys of tomorrow.
I will find the way if Thou wouldst lead,
For my soul is hungry, and food it needs.

I count the blessing of my day,
I thank Thee for my thought and way.
I pray for continued light,
I hope in Thee to never lose my sight.

I love Thee more than I can understand,
My life forever is held in Thy hand.
Help me to spread Thy word,
So that all may know and Thy word be heard.

In memory of Bill, Ross, Keegan, and Liam Parrish. Thanks for all you have done and the example you set for us. To Sister Jensen Parrish for being the greatest missionary I know. You are a light and an example to all of us in the Washington Vancouver Mission. To Ian Parrish, the greatest brother and support to your family. May you always find peace and love in your lives. The Lord is watching over you and you are guarded by the best of angels.
