I was born blind,
In a time not so kind.
They would question and ask,
Who was to be taken to task.
Who was the sinner of us three,
"Is it your mother or Father or Thee?"
They would ask of me.
They would ask others 'round about,
They would all give their answers with doubt.
One day with the sun warm on my face,
I witness the miracle of redeeming grace.
Unknowing I met the Master, my Light,
The one who would graciously give me my sight.
They too asked, "who did sin, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
His voice was rich and refined,
"Neither hath this man sinned,
Nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."
He spake more than that I do know,
He spread clay across my eyes, "To the pool of Siloam, Go."
I did as He bid that day,
After I washed I could see straightway.
Those who were neighbors my whole life,
Asked how it could be so, the one could see who begged through this strife?
They asked how could this be done,
"Jesus, who made clay and anointed mine eyes is the one."
The Pharisees even asked of me,
"He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see."
Asking my parents the same question, uncertain,
They replied, "He is of age, ask him."
They asked if I thought a sinner He be,
"Whether he be a sinner or not, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see."
"What did he to thee? How opened he thine eyes?"
"I have told you already, and ye did not hear." My answer they despise.
With an argument of heavy rage,
They cast me out, their confusion I could not gauge.
Jesus, the man kind and benevolent,
Visited me in a moment reverent.
He asked me,"dost thou believe on God's Son?"
I asked, "Where is He that I may believe on?"
He reveled His sacred nature to me,
I in shock did worship Him as I did kneel.
The Son of God performed a miracle on me,
Now and forever on Him will I believe.
