Who are you? What are you to become?

I remember listening to someone speak about homesickness once. That feeling that you are where you do not belong. That something in missing from your life. Now that I am currently serving a mission this feeling is much more familiar to me. I had times where I almost couldn't focus I felt so lost and alone, like no one could connect to me, nor could I to them.

One of the things we teach as missionaries is that we come from a place that we do not recall, that we are just here to learn and to gain experience in things. We came from a place much more glorious than what we see here. We have a Heavenly Father and Mother that care for us and want us to be the best we possibly can. That is why we experience the things we do. We are allowed to go through heartache and strife that we may learn and appreciate the joyous times. The times that we learn to look forward to. Those times allow us a peek at the eternal joys that can be found in the not to distant future if we set our hearts and minds upon it.

When we truly remember who we are we realize what we can become. As spiritual children of the most divine and inspired creator we are capable of more than we, here, can understand. That feeling of loneliness and sorrow similar to homesickness can be dissolved when you find the truth. Who are you? You are a child of God. What are you to become? The same even as He is. This is a promise that you can find in the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

3 Nephi 12:48 "Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or you Father who is in heaven is perfect." The Savior tells the people of the Americas.

Matthew 5:48 "Be ye Therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect." Said to the Apostles of the Savior.

"Remember who you are, you are my son. The rightful king." -Mufasa

We, too, have a royal heritage that is to be like the Most High God. We can become Kings and Queens with the same divine power and strength even as He has. The same power that has been passed on to the Savior, who has done the will of the Father in completing the Atonement. You are more than you are right now. Don't ever forget that.

Your true home awaits you with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Mother.
